Adelina is such an interesting character, you see the impact her childhood has had on her life and admire her for being strong in tough situations. She discovers that she is what’s known as a Young Elite, and that her abilities are stronger than she might think.

Adelina had a troubled childhood, always hiding in the shadows from her violent father. The Young Elites, the first book, has the most typical YA storyline of the three, however, how Marie Lu evolves the series is fantastic! We are introduced to Adelina, who is what’s known as a malfetto, which is someone who has been scarred from the blood fever. I had no idea what this series was about but I am so glad that I picked it up because I loved it! So I saw The Young Elites box set, thought why not? and ended up buying it. I haven’t read anything by Marie Lu before- I’ve been wanting to read the Legend series for a long time now but still haven’t gotten around to it. I read this series back to back, so I thought that I would combine my reviews into one post and do a whole series review. Unless she can control the vengeful darkness growing in her heart, Adelina could be a danger to them all. She is a Young Elite.īut Adelina’s ability is stronger than any Young Elite before her. Branded as a malfetto, she is cast out from all that she has ever known and loved.Īdelina discovers that the disease has left her with more than just a scar- she has a mysterious and powerful gift.

I am tired of being used, hurt and cast aside.Īdelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever, marked by a jagged scar. The Young Elites by Marie Lu Series Review
